I Love You, I Do

They say marriage isn’t easy.  After you say, “I do,” is when the real work begins.  And it is work.  Work to find a balance between life and love.  Between the you that was you and is you and the you that is now us.  Us.

But I love you.

I do.

I love you more than I have ever loved anyone else.  I love you because I know that you love me.  Because I know that no matter how many times I boss you around, say insensitive things, or drive you crazy, you still love me.  You still rub my feet.  You still get me ice cream and Chinese take-out.  You still take Carter and watch him while I sleep. You still apologize when you’re wrong.  And when you’re right. You work hard to see a smile on my face.  You appreciate me for who I am and what I am.  You encourage me to pursue my passion.  You read my blog without me asking.  You tell me I’m beautiful with no make-up on.  You touch my body in the places where I feel the most insecurity and you tell me how perfect my body is.  And you freaking mean it!  You let me vent about work and actually listen when I talk.  You let me hog the Apple TV and watch Food Network on YouTube all day long.  You support my decisions.  You don’t give me a hard time about anything I do.  You don’t judge me.

They say marriage isn’t easy. After you say, “I do,” is when the real work begins. And it is work. Work to find a balance between life and love. Between the you that was you and is you and the you that is now us.

Us.
But I love you.
I do.
