What would happen if we told them about the migraine we’ve had for the last three days?
Or the fact that our spouse is sleeping in the guest room and has been for weeks?
Or that the kids are so bad we’ve been secretly looking up information on boarding schools?
Or that we only have enough money in our wallets for ramen noodles for the next two weeks?
Or that we’re feeling sad, or depressed, or angry, or annoyed, or exhausted, or frustrated?
What would happen if we actually told people how we really felt…instead of the obligatory, “I’m doing okay.”
